Army Destroys Illegal Refineries In Rivers Community
Operatives of the Nigerian Army 6 division says it has destroyed over forty illegal refineries in the Rivers community of Degema and Akuku-Toru local government area of the state.
According to the Army Acting Deputy Director of public relations Lt. Col. Danjuma Jonah in a statement, one hundred and ninety seven thousand liters of stolen products were confiscated during the operation in the remote creeks, as well as the demobilizing of thirty two boats.
In addition, hundreds of drums used by oil thieves and hoses used to siphon products were also confiscated.
The destruction of the illegal refinery sites across the two Rivers communities were carried out simultaneously to prevent the oil thieves from diverting the stolen products to another location.
While Commending the troops for their gallantry, the General Officer Commanding 6 division Nigerian Army Major General Jamal Abdulsalam, reassured that the ongoing operation would be sustained until it achieve the desired goals of reducing crude oil theft to the barest minimum level.
