President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed the former national chairman of the people’s Democratic Party as the chairman of the Nigerian railway corporation.

A statement from the office of the secretary to the government of the federation said the president also approved the appointment of Doctor Ismail Bello as the director general of national population commission.

According to the statement, the appointment takes effect from the 8th of January 2014. The appointment is coming on the heels of resignation of the former PDP chairman who allegedly resigned from his position as the notional chairman of the peoples democartic party (PDP) due to pressure from his party men.
