The Defence Headquarters has disclosed that no fewer than one thousand notable terrorist leaders, commanders and their replacements were neutralized by troops of the Nigerian Military across all theatre of operations during the course of the 2024.

The Military High Command also said troops also eliminated 10,937 terrorist foot soldiers, arrested12,538 others and rescued 7,063 hostages within the year.

Addressing journalists at the final media briefing on the ongoing military operations in Abuja on Tuesday, the director defence media operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, said the notable terrorist leaders include, Dutse Mainasara Idda, Mallam Saleh Umaru, Mohammed Amadu, Chinemerem (aka Bam Bam), Jeremiah Uzuoma (aka Escoba), Tochukwu Awo (aka Ojoto) and Egwuatu amongst others.

He noted that troops of the Niger Delta in the course of the year recovered 56,223,002 litres of stolen crude oil, 9,735,836 litres of illegally refined AGO, 95,595 litres of DPK and 156,527 litres of PMS, while denying the oil theft of an estimated sum of over #68 bn (N68,453,376,040.00) only.

The Director, while assuring of the troops commitment to go extra mile to eradicate the menage of terrorism, also urged citizens to support the military with credible information that would expedite military operations to winning the war against insurgency in the coming year.
