Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Friday in Ibadan inaugurated the first phase of the 11 MegaWatts Ibadan Hybrid Power Plant, (IBHP). The first phase is 5 MW and the project is sited at the Power House, State Secretariat, Agodi, and Ibadan.

The hybrid power facility which is a private sponsored project, is expected to supply electricity to the state government secretariat, the state House of Assembly, among others. It is expected that the facility will enhance power supply within the secretariat, and its environs, thereby reduce energy costs, and promote environmental sustainability.

In his remarks, Makinde, said the Ibadan Hybrid Power Plant marked an historic achievement in the state’s energy sector. According to him, the completion of the first phase of the project will end the menace of interrupted power to critical infrastructure within the secretariat and its environs.

The Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr Seun Ashamu described the completion of the first phase of the project as a remarkable achievement.
