The PPRO stated that upon receiving the report, Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP Steve H. Yabanet, immediately ordered patrol officers and checkpoints to ensure the victim’s rescue and the arrest of the perpetrators.

At around 1:00 PM, another report was received stating that the victim had been attacked by her abductors along Yandev-Ugbema road and left unconscious by the roadside. She was identified and rushed to the Primary Healthcare Clinic in Ameladu for treatment.

When the victim regained consciousness at the hospital, she explained that while driving from NNPC Mega Fuel Station in Kanshio, after collecting money from a customer, she was flagged down by individuals pretending to need assistance. Once she stopped, they jumped into her car, pointed a gun at her, and ordered her to drive toward the Wurukum area.

As they drove, she noticed Dr. Ichor Tersagh Smart, her husband’s colleague, standing by the car. She called out to him for help, but he ignored her and walked away. During the ordeal, her abductors received a call from Dr. Ichor, who allegedly instructed them to kill her, causing her to panic.

When the kidnappers saw a police checkpoint ahead, they reversed the car to a secluded area, took her out, robbed her of N1,350,000 from the car, and used a vehicle jack to strike her on the back of the neck, knocking her unconscious.
