The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to addressing security challenges across the country through strategic initiatives and enhanced collaboration.

Speaking during the 2025 budget defence session with the House Committee on Defence, he highlighted the successes of ongoing operations, including efforts to curb oil theft in the South-South and restore peace in troubled regions.

General Musa noted that the military has intensified its use of both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies, ensuring that local stakeholders, including religious and cultural leaders, are actively involved in peace building efforts.

Addressing concerns about the welfare of troops, Musa called for improved funding to meet the growing needs of the armed forces.

Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Rep. Babajimi Benson, stressed the need for accountability in defence spending. He called on the armed forces to prioritize technology-driven solutions and inter-agency collaboration to address evolving security threats and safeguard national stability.
