Dep Speaker Pledges Commitment to Advance Education in Nigeria
Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has pledged commitment to advance education in Nigeria and support initiatives that promote access to quality learning.
He gave the assurance while receiving a delegation from the University of Calabar (UNICAL), led by its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, and the Provost of the Post-Graduate School, Prof. Enyong Ubana, in his Abuja office.
Recalling his time at UNICAL, where he is currently pursuing a doctorate in law, Kalu credited the institution for instilling in him, virtues such as hard work, competition, and patriotism.
The Deputy Speaker urged the university to be part of the ongoing constitutional review by carrying out quality research work on issues such as State Policing amongst others even as he promised to be part of the upcoming 50th anniversary/ convocation lectures. Prof. Obi and Prof. Ubana, who also chair the organizing committee for UNICAL at 50, described Kalu as a distinguished alumnus and a “special gift” to the nation.
